Nancy Collamer is a career coach and author of Second-Act Careers: 50+ Ways to Profit from Your Passions During Semi-Retirement. She writes for NextAvenue.org (PBS) and Forbes, and has been featured in many other media outlets, including NBC Nightly News and the New York Times.

Too many people over 50 spend their time applying for jobs online. The problem with this approach is that only 15-20% of jobs are posted there, so they miss finding out about all the rest. This webinar, led by Nancy Collamer, a career coach and national expert, will help people learn about and tap into this hidden market.`

Thurs, Oct 20th, 3:00 – 4:30 pm: Conducting Your Research

Special Event with Denise Bitler!

Denise Bitler has 30+ years of HR experience, specifically in the area of Benefits.  She was always a self-avowed Benefits geek but developed a passion for resume writing, career coaching, and especially interview preparation when her twin sons entered college.

Job seekers should be customizing their resume and cover letter for each different job they are applying to. Potential candidates should be preparing for each individual interview they are invited to. The common thread between each of these activities is RESEARCH. You need to research the role, the company, the company’s products/services and website, their financials, their competitors, etc. This workshop will teach you what you need to research and how you can easily gather this research information.

Tues, Oct 25th, 6:30 – 8:00 pm: How to Judge a Resume

Interactive Workshop with Ed Lawrence!

Join us as we present an entirely different approach to improving your resume. We won’t teach you how to write a resume.

We’re going to teach you how to judge a resume, including:

  • What it means to judge a resume.
  • Why it is so hard to judge your own resume.
  • How to recognize a “good” resume.
  • How the professional resume writer associations judge a resume.

Why you need to attend this session: Plenty of other places have been teaching how to write a resume for years. That approach doesn’t work. Too often, they have a precise format and formula, or recommend templates that won’t make it through an ATS. Furthermore, most people are not writers.

This session will be presented by Ed Lawrence, a resume writer who judges submissions for one of the major resume writer organizations.
